MOGADISHU, Somalia 28 September 2022 – On the International Day for Universal Access to Information, Somali journalists have little to celebrate about. The often precarious and volatile environment is coupled with restrictions on access to information, duress and insecurity.

MOGADISHU, Somalia 4 June 2022 – Today, 4 June 2022, the Somali independent journalists’ organizations/unions and the independent media houses associations held a consultative meeting in Mogadishu focusing on the latest developments in the country on the aftermath of May 15th presidential election and the state of freedom of expression and media freedom in Somalia, which has been ranked as the worst in the last five years.

MOGADISHU, Somalia 20 February, 2022 – The Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS) has officially joined the United Nations Civil Society Coalition on Anti-Corruption Convention, as part of SJS efforts to defend defends journalists’ rights and promote accountability for violations against media freedom including attacks on journalists covering corruption.

MOGADISHU, Somalia, 28 October 2021 - The Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS) has submitted an official complaint against bribe soliciting by Hirshabelle State officials to the Independent Anti-Corruption Commission (IACC) of the Federal Government of Somalia and awaits IACC to launch a full and independent investigation into the case.
